I Loved last nights episode. I knew the girl with the birthmark was his daughter by her comment about she was the result of a one night stand. And the fact that she slept with her brother. My hubby had even guessed that Julia had mercury poisining, but for Eve to shoot her. WOW! I cannot believe next week is already the end of teh season. :~{

Ryan MurphyEvery year, it seems, there's some question about whether "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy will remain with the series. And every year, he's ultimately decided to stick with it.

FX and some of its fellow News Corp. properties are rewarding Murphy for that loyalty with a big new deal that includes a fifth season of "Nip/Tuck" and development agreements with studio 20th Century Fox TV and the FOX network.

"'Nip/Tuck' is one of the most wonderfully strange and original television series ever produced -- and it consistently delivers some of the best episodes on television," says John Landgraf, president of FX. "We felt we owed 'Nip/Tuck's' fans and FX's viewers nothing less than Ryan Murphy's inimitable vision for the series."

Under the new deal, which reportedly runs into eight figures over the next three-plus years, Murphy will remain the showrunner of "Nip/Tuck" (which Warner Bros. TV produces) for its fifth season, which will run for 22 episodes. That's the show's biggest order ever; no previous season has lasted more than 16 episodes.

The new season will also include a change in location: When we last saw plastic surgeons Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), they had relocated from Miami to Los Angeles and were on the verge of opening an L.A. practice.

The contract also calls for Murphy to develop new series for 20th Century Fox TV, with FOX getting the first look at any such project. Peter Ligouri, FOX's president of entertainment, ran FX when "Nip/Tuck" premiered in 2003.

"Since my first meeting with Ryan, it was clear that he has a unique, singular voice," Ligouri says. "Working closely with him and watching his star rise, I admire his zeal, dedication and creative courage. It's a great day for FOX to announce our partnership."

In addition to his "Nip/Tuck" work, Murphy also created The WB series "Popular" and wrote and directed the feature film "Running with Scissors." His next film project, "Dirty Tricks," is in pre-production.

Favorite Story of the Season

Now that this season has wrapped up - what was your favorite story - mini or otherwise during the season? Was it Julia's affair? James and Michelle smuggling body parts out in Santa bags? I liked Brooke Shields as the crazy therapist - and the scene when Christian finds her tattoo. But my favorite scene (and my favorite episode) this season was when Christian was the only mourner at the funeral - and he still stands up to speak.

"The Future"

Did anyone think that Tuesday's episode was just plain wierd? I mean, wouldn't it have been better placed as a series finale and not smack dab in the middle of the season? Now that we know the future and everything, will a paradox be created? Will something happen that will save Annie form having that awful voice (personally I was hoping she would have turned into a junkie or hooker, but attention whore was definitely appropriate)? Didn't everyone's future make up look really strange? Matt looked like he had liver spots, very splotchy on the face, and Sean looked like the "gray spray" they put on his hair ran all over his forehead. Plus, Julia said she was going to saty with her mom in New York, but didn't she kill her mother last season?

I'm confused.

wow, she seems REALLY unstable after this last episode. She can't make a single decision on her own, without being affected by Marlow's or Sean's expectations. I'm glad she's getting "clean" in New York.

This weeks' Star magazine has a brief piece about the show, with a few photos. It does quote Julian McMahon as saying he thinks his character is kinda gay or something of the sort. Sure hope they don't take him on a bi adventure. I like him as a studly stud. Loved his reaction to his internet video!

New Suspects?

So tonight my brain was buzzing a little. I'm the type of person to read a mystery novel and REALLY try to figure out whodunnit without reading the last chapetr first. I found this crazy forum for nip/tuck on www.tv.com and these people are hardcore--giving eachother research assignments and such. The thing I found odd is that most of us her seem to be on the Quentin as Carver bandwagon (myself included). The people on this forum did not really mention him much at all. Too perfect of a red herring I suppose. Some interesting suspects have been brought up:
--Nurse Linda (she has been on nearly every episode in all 3 seasons and would have dirt on everybody, yet we know nothing about her. She's just been in the background...this one seems to be a longshot, but did make me think a bit..)
--SEAN! For various strange and frighteningly logical arguments that were posted (the least convincing argument has to do with a split personality type theory..whatever)
--Liz! Liz is the one MAIN character we really know nothing about personally. (how she lives, relationships, her home and social life, etc) Also has in depth knowledge of anesthesia, the carver uses a specific dose of the paralyzing drug, only a doctor with that type of knowledge would know how much to administer, she was NOT at Christian's wedding, she doesn't like the way she looks and doesn't get why these women come into the practice to get plastic surgery done(beauty a cure upon the world?), strap on for the humilitaion of raping Christian, who she thinks is a chauvenist pig anyway? and she would have had access to his DNA from when they tried to have a baby. Could have saved some in the freezer.
Also tied to this, the carver myspace profile indicates gender is female. It's deep. I looked at it, the carver has blog posts up, there's a video monologue..the whole nine yards. There was dicussion that this was created by thenip tuck creators and some clues may be able to besqueezed out of this. I'm starting to like this Liz idea. And the Carver is now my friend. I added him to my myspace list :) I'v gone cracky enough on this for the evening...time to go to bed. discuss.

I got into this show two years late, folks. Watched the first two seasons in one week ... which is the beauty of not discovering a great show until it's three years into it. But now, needless to say, I'm craving more ... and yet I might need to wait until the release of the third season on DVD ... unless, of course, Nip/Tuck is included on the Premium Channel? Or is there another way of playing catch up without jumping into it mid-season?

Oh man, I can't even read these threads for fear of having this season spoiled. But seeing Christian get carved in the final moments of season two is really a mind-blow.

I loved the underlying subtlety in this ep - Baldwin snipping the plants while talking about Avery's surgery, Julia mentioning 'Phoenix' to Famke, Christian being able to tell about Ava right away.

Just joined this tribe! Was looking over the old posts and wanted to say a couple of things...

1) a little story: I was totally hooked from the first season. One night, my husband was making music for a CD (his gear happens to be in the living room with the TV) and it seemed like it was going to go longer than I anticipated. It was 9:50 on a Tuesday night and he didn't seem to be winding down his recording! I got really mad and said "Godammit you are going to make me miss plastic surgeons having sex!!" All he could do was laugh. I ended up missing the 1st 15 minutes of the show and I was sooo pissed. The next day he presented me with the CD he had been working on the night before. The album title: "Plastic Surgeons Having Sex" and it was actually a really good CD so I forgave him...he never did it again by the way!

2) Quentin is totally the carver. He would have had access to Christian's squizz from the 3some to plant at the crime scene. And he's creepy icky. i also read in some smut mag that the Carver IS indeed someone we know, otherwise my only other suspect would be Christian's dad. I was also suprised that Quentin was a bottom. Ugh.

3) Matt (when he had his mullet) totally looked like Michael Jackson and his face in general really disturbs me. I just think he's gross. How can it be that now that he is becoming a Nazi I actually like his character more?

Can't wait for Tuesday!

So i recently rented "deliverance" from Netflix, a movie i've never seen, but have heard good reviews.
1971, starring Burt Reynalds.
But i SWEAR i never saw Burt. He looked so much like Julian MacMahon that i saw Christian Troy in the whole part of Burt's character. And maybe even like it better because of this.
And it was a good movie, btw.

bad multitasking?

I don't know if I'm the only one getting annoyed with this. They are jumping around all over the place. The carver hasn't been heard from since Kit. Kit herself is missing in action. Matt is just thrown in there once in a while to make aggressive snotty comments. Quentin is a coke head, Christian is getting married with a prenup forbidding him from adultry (when he obviously can't stop cheating). Shawn is screwing up all over the place (parenting, marriage, work, dating). oh yes and the new business with Julia, Liz, and Gina. Who's main product is selling sperm for faces. I just don't see where this is all going. And it seems a little much.

The Redemption of Dr. Christian Troy

By way of smartly executing the accusation, Christian is going to be redeemed by a slow process of uncovery of his sentiments. Season one, we can all agree (no matter how cute he is), Christian Troy was a first-rate a**hole. By the end of season two, we discover that there is depth to this character.

There's a slow transition in progress, the writers are molding Christian to Sean and perhaps, by the end of this season, we'll see a turn around in Sean as well...all i can say is, for now, this is marvelous TV!

Episode 3.4 Rhea Reynolds

Can we please stop just calling threads "the carver"? It's extremely redundant and kinda boring.

This was an amazing episode. Generally episodic TV has a limited number of arcs per storyline. There was so much going on in this episode I was amazed how artfully they tied the everything back to each other by the end.

We had --
*Matt filing the restraining order and the subsequent interrogation by children's services
*An examination of both self-mutilation and Munchausen syndrome. It was profoundly shocking how this translated into actions by Sean, the carver, and Christian.
*Sean's development of compassion with Trudy -- the Alzheimer victim's wife

The best episode of the season so far. The end had the same shock of the season finale. As they continue to peel back the layers of the characters I'm riveted.

Episode 3.3 -- Derek, Alex, and Gary

Kinky and provocative as always. Thought it was fun when "the girls" turned on Christian.

Matt's spiral continuing, the driving accident does not go away from last season. I heard it will definitely be back, which fits with the storyline.

Interesting turn with Quentin. I don't think those encounters were as unplanned as they seemed, especially with the morning coffee convo. He's a lot more slippery than first seemed; fits in well lol. Jumped to the top of my Carver suspects.

Thought the "Stuck on You" music was a bit much though. I usually love the music.

Really like Tara and I do believe she has quite the bite. She's one twisted sister...

So far I have seen every episode of Nip/Tuck this season. Never watched it in Season 1 or 2, but this past Summer they would show 3-4 episodes a night on FX from midnight-3AM and I couldn't stop watching, so I think I caught most of Season 2.

So my first question is:
1: Do you think the carver is someone from this current season or will it be someone from a past season that some or most of us have forgotten about?

Just had to join after seeing the season premiere. Awesome. I have my suspicions about the motives of the new doc and the female investigator, as I see many of you do too. But what's really resonating with me is the music - the music was great, especially the song played during the removal of "Mama" - I had to immediately download it. Julian McMahon loves filming the sex scenes in cosmetic surgery drama Nip/Tuck because they are so realistic.

The actor, who plays Christian Troy in the hit series, used to hate simulating sex for the camera and found nudity embarrassing but Nip/Tuck has changed all that.

He says, "I love the way we use sex in Nip/Tuck.

"In the same way we use the surgery. It's very explicit, raw and aggressive and they don't pull back on it. It's served us well."

He also credits the scenes with boosting his own love life, "I spend most of the time in it (Nip/Tuck) naked and having sex. Now I get people running up and grabbing my a*s."

LOS ANGELES, CA, United States (UPI) -- The FX cable network says its Golden Globe Award-winning series "Nip/Tuck" is ending its yearlong hiatus and starting a new season in September.

The popular medical drama will start its third season Sept. 20, in the spot currently occupied by "Rescue Me," the network announced.

The series ended with a cliffhanger -- with a masked slasher attacking a sleeping Dr. Christian Troy. Creator Ryan Murphy told the Television Critics Press tour not to expect the mystery to be solved until near the end of the season.

"We started that story, and people really loved it," Murphy of the serial slasher. "I`m interested in what it`s about, what that character is saying."

The season will pick up about a month after the finale`s time frame with Christian, played by Julian McMahon, dealing with the "brutal" repercussions of the attack.

MONTREAL - In keeping with the cosmetic surgery theme, here's
a crazy story out of Canada...Apparently the latest cosmetic
surgery rage for women are designer vaginas. Surgeons claim
they're responding to demands from unhappy women seeking a
"tidy" appearance or "a younger looking" vulva to enhance
sex. "Women are bringing porn magazines to the Laser Vaginal
Rejuvenation Institute of Los Angeles, demanding the same
kind of 'perfect' genitals," a spokesman for the institute
said. "The majority of institute patients are women in their
30s and 40s seeking to 'shrink' their vaginas or reduce
their labia," said Lisa Thorson, of Global Med Technologies,
an institute partner.

help in a bid to find out why the dead come to her.

and I don't know who they are. They have no connection to
me, I just see them. They say something to me and it

Smallville reference to nip/tuck

Does anyone on this tribe also watch Smallville? After last night's episode, the preview for next week's episode showed all the Smallville ladies going in for plastic surgery, with the implication that it may be driven by the meteor rocks (aka Krypton). Then at the end of the preview, they called the episode "kryp/tuck"!!! I had a really bug chuckle out of that! I love it!

Anyhoodle, ran into her in the bathroom at the HBO Globes party, and she blurted out, with pointed finger, "You're the girl who didn't predict we were going to win. Ha! You were wrong!" Love it. Love her. And naturally, love that I was wrong (though a Lost win would have been divine, too). She told me she would be back...surprising given that I'd just run into Jessalyn Gilsig (Christian's former fling) at Fox's Globes party, who told me "No one knows who's coming back yet." More surprising? The reason Kelly-Kimber knows she's coming back: "There are some loose ends we need to tie up. It's going to be shocking." Something tells me she could be hooked in with the Carver.

Ok. First, read a nasty rumor that Julian McMahon may not be coming back for a third season...which leaves the answer as to his well-being.

Second, possible ideas for carver:
DW Moffett, Julia's boyfriend, although he did not appear at all in season finale.

Matt - he's not pretty, he's screwed up from break up and family situation, he's jealous of Julian's sexual prowess, Ava left him a hidden note.

And finally, as an aside, is it really fair that Adrian killed himself? after all, wasn't Ava his accomplice in their sexual relationship?? And didn't Alec Baldwin do a superb job?????

scheduling." Indeed, Nip/Tuck's third season-and the boss's
involvement-hinges on the completion of "Running With Scissors,"
Murphy's upcoming film starring Julianne MOore. In the
meantime "there are qualified people who could run the show if I
decide not to," he insists. But said folks may be unable to resolve
the current cliff-hanger: "The only person who knows whether
Christian is dead is me. His fate is in my hands."

Matt gets into a fight with Ava's son at school, and the principal wants to suspend them. Ava convinces Christian to perform surgery on an aging high-school principal as a bribe. Sean and Christian refuse to help a patient pro-bono because it's not life-threathening, so she goes to Bobolit.

Episode 2.14:
Trudy Nye [Airing September 21]: Trudy wants her nose repaired after her husband broke it 16 years ago. He’s about to get out of prison for killing their son, and she wants to feel good about herself. A few weeks later, the husband comes in to have his face changed too, because everybody treats him like a killer. Julia now has a boyfriend, while Sean is with Kimber. Christian and Natasha go rent a movie, but his car is stripped while she’s in it.

Personally, I liked this episode a lot - ala It's a Wonderful Life meets All That Jazz. It was fated and yet mixed heavily with Julia's non-existent feelings of self-worth.

I thought it was a bit cheesy with the white floating scene but camera-wise it looked very sharp.

I really love the music for the show. It's a great mix and really adds to the atmosphere. In some ways the whole music accompanying scenes in movies and television is pretty trite, but n/t gets it right. The theme song is great.

Did anyone pick them up and rewatch them again? I realized how much I did get hooked on this show.

The deleted scenes are very nice - almost at least one for every ep. I would have liked some commentary by each of the cast but as it is, I'm glad they took the time to add some extras in.

Did anyone else find this weeks ep a little hard to buy into with Julia and Sean's daughter? Maybe the writers found it necessary to develop her character after devoting so much to Matt with the accident. So far, I'm liking the focus on the patients this season more than the main characters personal lives.

Even Christian's plight for custody is too far fetched for me. He doesn't even have adoptive rights.
